hmtcastle Posted December 21, 2010 at 10:46 PM Report Share Posted December 21, 2010 at 10:46 PM We hold elections in November and new Board takes effect January 1st. Can the existing board members hold executive session meetings in december and vote on association business in december or is it a lame duck month and no business is conducted until new board is in place? There are no lame ducks in RONR-Land. As long as you're a member, you're a member. It doesn't matter if you just became a member two minutes ago or if, two minutes from now, you'll no longer be a member. But if you don't like the idea of defeated board members making "last-minute" decisions before they leave office, you can amend your bylaws so that there's no gap between being elected and taking office. Which, by the way, just happens to be the RONR default.By the way, lame ducks conduct business all the time. The current, lame duck Congress is going out in a blaze of productivity.
