Guest stitch Posted January 8, 2011 at 04:38 PM Report Share Posted January 8, 2011 at 04:38 PM We have very poorly drafted by-laws that need substantial changes, deletions, etc. It's very difficult to work within them. Is it necessary to write them into the existing document or can we start"fresh" with new proposed by-laws? If we can do this, they would be presented to the general membership, along with a copy of the existing by-laws prior to vote. Would appreciate help. Thanks! Thanks! You can offer a revision of the bylaws which would mean that a substitution of the entire document is before the assembly (rather then specific passages when isolated changes are being proposed) and so the whole document is open to amendment. Of course, you would still need to follow the amendment provision in the bylaws even with a revision. See RONR pp. 575-576 for details.
