ThJudg Posted January 11, 2011 at 01:33 PM Report Share Posted January 11, 2011 at 01:33 PM An item was inserted into our proposed agenda by a clerical person, not by any member of the board of directors. The proposed agenda was mailed to all board members and posted on the front door of our organization prior to tonight's meeting. We routinely vote on the approval of the agenda, but in this case is it necessary to take a vote to remove this item from the agenda since a non-voting person arbitrarily inserted it into the proposed agenda ? Please Advise.
George Mervosh Posted January 11, 2011 at 02:07 PM Report Share Posted January 11, 2011 at 02:07 PM My gut says no (since it shouldn't be on the proposed agenda at all), but if you adopt the agenda and that item is on it.....you'll be dealing with it. So yes, move to strike it from the proposed agenda. Unless Dan comes on and tells me I'm wrong.

ThJudg Posted January 11, 2011 at 07:39 PM Author Report Share Posted January 11, 2011 at 07:39 PM If the item is stricken then can a board member move that the same item be added to the proposed agenda, and if so, does it need to be voted on ? It seems to me that since the inserted item is "Out of Order," and since the proposed agenda was posted for the public to see, and since the issue before the board is the current proposed agenda, it would have to be added to the next month's proposed agenda when it's time for "New Business" which is regularly a part of all our agenda's. The fact that the item might have been deleted from the proposed agenda doesn't mean it can't be added. Or considered without being on the agenda at all. There's very little that's done that can't be undone. There's very little that's carved in stone.
