wwdslovene Posted January 19, 2011 at 04:08 PM Report Share Posted January 19, 2011 at 04:08 PM Where can I find in Robert's Rules a statement saying the the presiding oficer (in this case the president)may not offer his or her own opinion when a motion is on the floor (unless of course s/he steps dpown and allows the VP to take over)? The president may offer factual information and answer questions but cannotspeak for or against a motion. Am I correct?

Am I correct?See FAQ #1.But note that the rules are relaxed at meetings of "small" boards (where not more than about a dozen members are present). In those cases the chair is free to fully participate.
