Guest Curious George Posted January 27, 2011 at 09:37 PM Report Share Posted January 27, 2011 at 09:37 PM Nominations for a position was done. Nominating committee presented slate than nomination from the floor followed. A person accepted the nomination from the floor. After meeting was closed, the Person said they withdrawn their acceptance and chose not to run for office. The offical election is not for another month. Question: Can a person withdraw their acceptance after they accepted it? Thanks
hmtcastle Posted January 27, 2011 at 09:40 PM Report Share Posted January 27, 2011 at 09:40 PM Question: Can a person withdraw their acceptance after they accepted it? Well, sure. Why keep someone on the ballot who doesn't want the job? And, technically, nominations don't have to be accepted. But you could vote for him anyway, and he might even be elected. In which case he could change his mind and take the job, or decline it (again).
Chris Harrison Posted January 27, 2011 at 09:42 PM Report Share Posted January 27, 2011 at 09:42 PM Yes. Actually the nominating committee should be resurrected to come up with another nominee if there is time (RONR p. 421).
