Its been part of our by-laws so long I can only think that they are confirming that the by-laws were changed on the date signed ? I'm guessing at best.

My problem is as follows:
In our by-laws it states you cannot hold an officer’s position in our volunteer organization while holding one in a different volunteer organization simultaneously (ex: president in ours and vp in another).
We removed an individual from a position 2 months ago because of that by-law. Now he is being appointed to another position that he is qualified for, but because of the above mentioned by-law he is ineligible. All others that are qualified & eligible have declined the position. The trustees have the power to appoint people to any vacant positions as needed. This is a top ranking position that really should be filled.
Can this appointment be done by the trustees?

Every time the body of our organization makes a change to the by-law does a new signature sheet need to be signed if any of the officers have changed since the last signing?
We have a page in the front of the By-laws with the Trustees, President and Secretary signatures.
There is a change in these positions every year.

Thanks jstackpo. There is now more to this issue.
I am the president & already know that this will be an issue at our meeting this week. I have heard that the person at the center of this will not leave/resign his post with us as stated in the by-laws.

The By-Laws of our organization state:
” No squad officer shall hold an Office on another First Aid Squad or Fire Department”
We are a totally volunteer organization and the other First Aid Squads or Fire Departments in our area all volunteer also.
My question is can a motion be made to disregard the by-law for the rest of the year. The problem is that we have no one qualified to fill a position that will be left vacant by an officer that now holds a position in the first aid and fire department.
All officers of our organization are nominated and elected by close ballot.

What does the assistant to the president of a volunteer organization do? What powers does the person have? The appointment is not address in the by-laws. The president is making the appointment.
