Guest Nancyjean Fey Posted March 8, 2020 at 04:06 AM Report Share Posted March 8, 2020 at 04:06 AM When a vote that includes absentee ballots ends in a tie....do you have to vote again and not include the absentee ballots.....or is it just a tie vote and the subject matter needs to be re-addressed? Atul Kapur Posted March 8, 2020 at 04:20 AM Report Share Posted March 8, 2020 at 04:20 AM A tie vote means that the motion is defeated (the preferred term is "lost" or "rejected"), because it not get a majority (= more than half) of the votes in the affirmative. In other words, a decision has been made, in the negative. It takes a majority to adopt a motion. A tie does not meet that threshold.
