Does ex officio count as part of required number of committee members

A Nominating Committee requires six members in an organization. The organization has three ex officio members to every committee in the organization. Do the ex officio members count as part of the six required members?

I think that probably comes down to the wording of your bylaws. Can you give us some direct quotes from the bylaws about the requirements?

"A Nominating Committee of six voting members of this congregation, two of whom, if possible, shall be outgoing members of the Congregation Council, shall be elected at the annual meeting for a term of one year. Members of the Nominating Committee are not eligible for consecutive reelection."

Since the rule states that "six voting members... shall be elected at the annual meeting for a term of one year" it seems to me that ex officio members are not included in the six members mentioned in the rule, since ex officio members (by definition) are not elected, but serve by virtue of some other position.

I believe Rev. Goodwiller wanted also to see the part of your bylaws that put those three ex-officio members on the committee.
