What is the procedure to table a motion? The purpose of this is the following- a policy will be brought forth as a motion from a committee chair. The motion is to approve a policy that is incomplete and needs additional work. Is it appropriate to table the motion and stating the reason for such?

thanks-karl

Lay on the Table is used to set a motion aside temporarily so that some other urgent business can be considered. So no, it does not sound like Lay on the Table is the appropriate motion to use in this situation.

What exactly are you trying to accomplish? You note that the motion "needs additional work." Do you want to send the motion back to the committee?
