Working hard to get this right!!!

I have ordered my book but have a few questions before it arrives. This is regarding the election of a President of our small board. Our past President has resigned and is gone so our Executive Director chairs the meetings. My questions are: If you are a nominee, can you vote for yourself? Does our acting Chair vote? If she votes we could have a tie. Our bylaws do not give any specific instructions on voting.
