  1. Just to make certain that I understand what you are saying jstackpo, it is only necessary to re-read the motion if it has been amended after the first read? That would make sense.
  2. Traditionally at our annual meeting of the membership any proposed changes to the bylaws are published 3 months ahead in our magazine and handed out at the door prior to the meeting. Each proposed amendment is then individually read aloud. Once the motion is made to accept the amendment and discussion has concluded the proposed amendment is then read aloud again before calling for a vote. At this year's meeting, several people called for tabling of the 2nd reading as there were a number of amendments before the membership. Our bylaws do not state that we must read them twice, only that they be published 3 months ahead. Our past parliamentarian insisted that according to RONR we must read them twice. I can find nothing in RONR stating that it must be done. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
