  1. The results were announced 4 to 3 in favor and announced that the motion passed.
  2. The President of our non profit senior park board called for the vote on a topic where $20,000 is involved. There is plenty of money allocated for this project in our reserve fund. Being our financial officer, she has been involved with each discussion for three months. The vote was 4 to 3 in favor. She voted in favor. After the vote, a board member, (her), who only wishes, from past performance, to go along with the majority usually, a unanymous vote and that she is then okay with the vote. She then said that with a close vote like this and the amount of money involved, she thought that there should be more votes in favor and was unhappy. Which meant that 3 of her fellow board members disagreed with her. The President asked if anyone wanted to change their vote. This board member said, that she would change to a no vote which changed the motion on the floor to a 4 to 3 not in favor. Motion failed. How should the minutes record this action? What is the precedent for this situation and what is the correct procedure for handling it? I have served on non profit boards for 35 years, president of a few and have never seen this happen. I can't remember where in Robert's Rules of Order this topic is dealt with. Thank You Marion I
