  1. The problem we are running into is our past president is now the parliamentarian and does not want to release the presidency to the new president. Can he be voted out or is there a better solution. trying to be diplomatic about this but it is causing confusion and arguing at the meetings. Any advice would be appreciated. Ron
  2. Absentee Voting A member in good standings may submit a written request to the board to vote absentee, the request shall include the reason for the members inability to attend the prescribed meting. If approved by the board the member must submit their vote in writing prior to the voting of the membership on the issue at the club
  3. The bylaws state that they have to approve those votes at a meeting prior to elections. The board and membership knew they were going to be absent as the president told everyone the vice president would be conducting the meetings and nominations, voting. There is only one spot for 1 year trustee that could be effected if those votes were thrown out. So if I understand you we, would have to have a revote only on the 1 year trustee since no one else is effected by throwing out those 3 votes.
  4. Hello and thanks for your help in advance. Our club had a posted nomination and voting night a few weeks ago. The treasure was voted out and has since created a cluster. She is throwing baby fits that our president and 1 other member goes to Florida for the winter and have for many years, she wants their votes thrown out. This would not effect her as she lost on a 15 to 7 vote. It could however a 1st year trustee as the 2 were tied. They voted by text to the vice president and secretary their votes. She wants the votes thrown out and wants a whole new vote, because it was not brought to the board and voted if they could vote like that. So this way she will have all her friends that were not there to vote the first time there, so she could stack the vote. My questions are 1 Whats the right way to handle the 3 votes that were out of town and the board knew that they would not be back till after the elections. 2 If she is right about getting a revote who can vote the ones that were there for the first vote or can she bring in all her friends to vote that never came to the first meeting. 3 In case this makes a difference our next meeting is the second Tuesday of April but the new board is supposed to take office the 1st of April. Sorry this was so long just trying to figure out the right way to handle this.
