Guest Thinking Posted February 16, 2011 at 04:03 AM Report Share Posted February 16, 2011 at 04:03 AM Our bylaw state that "membership in the organization shall be terminated by resignation or explusion for good cause". Some members resigned and the director accepted the resignation but not the board since they have not meet yet. First question can the Director accept your resignation? 2nd question does the board have to accept your resignation for it to be a viable resignation? Unless the Bylaws state otherwise, I believe only the general membership may accept the resignation, and the resignation may be withdrawn unilaterally up until the question on the resignation has been stated by the chair. After that point, but before the resignation is accepted, withdrawing the resignation requires the consent of the assembly (majority vote). After the resignation has been accepted by the appropriate body, it is final.
