Guest John Laursen Posted March 31, 2011 at 12:34 AM Report Posted March 31, 2011 at 12:34 AM Our organization has Dates in the By-Laws for nominations and elections. We have already missed the nomination deadline and we're wondering what the reprecussions might be and what can we do to prevent a challenge to the results when the election is held?

We have already missed the nomination deadline and we're wondering what the reprecussions might be and what can we do to prevent a challenge to the results when the election is held?Either hold the election without nominations (i.e. all "write-in" votes) or suspend the rules and re-open nominations (might not be possible, depending on the language in your bylaws). But if the rules have been violated, there's no way to prevent a member from pointing this out.
Guest John Laursen Posted March 31, 2011 at 12:43 AM Report Posted March 31, 2011 at 12:43 AM Is that listed in Robert's anywhere I can quote it? Can the BOD do this on it's own or do we need 2/3 of the membership? And thanks for the quick response, I've been looking all day
hmtcastle Posted March 31, 2011 at 12:46 AM Report Posted March 31, 2011 at 12:46 AM Can the BOD do this on it's own or do we need 2/3 of the membership? The board should be playing no role in elections at a meeting of the general membership.
Guest John Laursen Posted March 31, 2011 at 12:51 AM Report Posted March 31, 2011 at 12:51 AM I understand we're just trying to get the nominations started. Thanks again
