Or from being elected to more than one office. Or from serving in more than one office. And you can get elected without even being nominated (via "write-in" votes). So if your dream of becoming president didn't pan out, feel free to run for vice-president. David A Foulkes Posted May 4, 2011 at 05:33 PM Report Share Posted May 4, 2011 at 05:33 PM Nothing in RONR prohibits it... even if the nominee is elected to the first office.Could this be problematical? Let's say he is elected to President, and he's at the meeting and does not immediately decline. The election is complete for that office. Then during voting for Secretary, he also gets write-in votes and wins that office too. If he decides he's rather be Secretary, does that create an incomplete election for President, even though it was complete? Does he, in effect, resign from the President's office, creating a vacancy? Tim Wynn Posted May 4, 2011 at 08:29 PM Report Share Posted May 4, 2011 at 08:29 PM Is the position of Parlamentarian an elected or appointed position?Consult your bylaws, but RONR advises that the president should be free to appoint one, if needed.
