Guest Steve Posted May 5, 2011 at 02:05 AM Report Share Posted May 5, 2011 at 02:05 AM This question, in two parts, is about the procedure if both your President and Vice President are absent from a regularly scheduled meeting, and our bylaws have no provisions for this circumstance. If you have an answer, can you please provide the locations in Robert's Rules as to where this is written?Second, does the President have the authority, according to Robert's Rules, to appoint an individual to run the meeting? Again this is not written in our current bylaws.

If you have an answer, can you please provide the locations in Robert's Rules as to where this is written? If neither the president nor vice-president is present, the secretary should call the meeting to order and preside over the election of a chair pro tem. If the secretary, too, is absent, any member should do so. See RONR(10th ed.), p. 437, l. 13-25.
