Guest Jane Smith Posted June 1, 2011 at 06:37 PM Report Share Posted June 1, 2011 at 06:37 PM If an organizations bylaws provide for membership vote by ballot and nomination committee vote by ballot, can a bylaws revision committee propose an amendment to change the membership vote to via vocce vote and leave the nomination committee vote by ballot as it stands? If the bylaws already provide for ballot voting can this be amended or is this an illegal vote?
David A Foulkes Posted June 1, 2011 at 06:46 PM Report Share Posted June 1, 2011 at 06:46 PM Are you talking about changing the voting method the membership uses for elections???Most any change to the bylaws can be enacted through the amendment process (which should be defined within the bylaws themselves). Whether the change is good is your membership's to determine and express by vote.

An organization is free to amend its bylaws as it sees fit, unless the bylaws or another higher governing authority specifically prohibits such amendment.
