Guest Mark Posted September 10, 2011 at 03:02 PM Report Share Posted September 10, 2011 at 03:02 PM Hi,My organization was planning on holding a meeting at a certain date, but both the President and Vice President suddenly had to notify the members that they cannot make the meeting. However, our constitution states that a Special Meeting can still be conducted through a signed petition of 50% or more of the current members, and 48 hours notice. My question is, when is the Pro Tem Chairman for the meeting designated? Can he/she be appointed along with the petition before the meeting, or will the secretary (or designee) have to call for an election for the Pro Tem Chair during the meeting, but prior to call of order? Thanks in advance
David A Foulkes Posted September 10, 2011 at 03:10 PM Report Share Posted September 10, 2011 at 03:10 PM The secretary (or any member if the secretary is also absent) calls the meeting to order and holds an election for a Chair pro tem.
