David A Foulkes Posted October 13, 2011 at 03:53 PM Report Share Posted October 13, 2011 at 03:53 PM Executive Session simply refers to a meeting, or portion thereof, that imposes secrecy regarding the proceedings on its attendees. It's a meeting just like any other meeting, and minutes should be taken during it. See pg. 95-96 in RONR (11th Ed.).
Guest Tracy Posted October 13, 2011 at 04:05 PM Report Share Posted October 13, 2011 at 04:05 PM If the chairperson is not at the regular meeting and the vice chair runs the meeting, should the vice be signing the approval of the minutes approved at that meeting? David A Foulkes Posted October 13, 2011 at 05:40 PM Report Share Posted October 13, 2011 at 05:40 PM If the chairperson is not at the regular meeting and the vice chair runs the meeting, should the vice be signing the approval of the minutes approved at that meeting?"Minutes should be signed by the secretary and can also be signed, if the assembly wishes, by the president." (RONR 11th Ed. p. 470 ll. 30-32)The "if the assembly wishes" part of that means that it would be decided by the assembly (a majority vote or unanimous consent should be sufficient), or by a previously adopted rule of order. I don't think this duty falls to the vice-president (vice-chair) but stay tuned.By the way, for future reference it's best start a new topic rather than piggybacking on someone else's, unless you happen to be Guest_guest also.
