Guest Jim Gilbert Posted November 4, 2011 at 05:23 PM Report Share Posted November 4, 2011 at 05:23 PM Hi,We have our normally scheduled quarterly meeting scheduled in a couple of weeks. We have some time constraints on our meeting location (we have to be out by a certain time). If we don't get to all of the meeting items, we would like to schedule a continuation of the quarterly meeting for the next week. However, our bylaws say that any special called meeting requires a 2-weeks notice. Since we are just trying to continue the already scheduled meeting and anyone who cares about attending the already scheduled meeting will have the opportunity to be in attendance and know about the continuation, do we have to wait two weeks until we can complete the rest of the meeting? Thanks,Jim

Just move "that when the meeting adjourns, it adjourn to meet next Monday at 4:00 P.M. at the Apple City Library. "It requires a second and majority vote. See RONR (11th ed.), Section 22. Trina Posted November 4, 2011 at 05:35 PM Report Share Posted November 4, 2011 at 05:35 PM Just to continue a bit, an adjourned meeting is not the same thing as a special meeting, so your special meeting rules (notice requirements, etc.) are not binding on you in this situation.
