Guest Edgar Posted November 20, 2011 at 08:33 PM Report Share Posted November 20, 2011 at 08:33 PM Can a member who is not in attendance be nominated and elected to a position they do not want?Yes.While it's best to elect someone who is willing to serve, you can vote for whomever you want so it's possible to elect someone who, though otherwise eligible, simply doesn't want the job. In that case you've got an incomplete election and will need to vote again. As you can imagine, this might be inconvenient (especially if some time elapses before the "lucky" candidate is notified and declines). On the other hand, he may say he doesn't want the job but, when faced with overwhelming support, change his mind.
