David A Foulkes Posted November 30, 2011 at 02:00 PM Report Share Posted November 30, 2011 at 02:00 PM I believe the person who makes a motion can vote yes or no, but cannot find the reference in RR. Can anyone help with this?Certainly a member can vote either way, even on a motion they have made. There is no requirement in RONR that a member must vote in favor of a motion they have made. They cannot speak against a motion they have made. (RONR 11th Ed. p. 393 ll. 19-26). They may also abstain from voting as well. (RONR 11th Ed. p. 407 ll. 12-19)
