Guest CTC-PA Posted December 8, 2011 at 05:35 PM Report Share Posted December 8, 2011 at 05:35 PM We are a non profit youth organization that has completed it's 3 term. In regards to Officers, this is what our by-laws state "A president, vice president, girls athletic director, boys athletic director, recording secretary, corresponding secretary and treasurer shall constitute the official personnel of the Executive Board of the CTCYA and their terms of office shall be three years. All new officers will be elected and take office the following February". Our organization started in 2008, however, some of the original board members are no longer involved. The open positions were filled by other volunteers. The only 2 positions that remain filled from the initial board are the President and Vice President. Some of the members who were asked to fill the vacancies feel that their positions are not up until they have been in their position for 3 years. As a board member, I feel that all positions are up and we need to hold elections for every position. Please help clarify this issue.thanks
Guest Edgar Posted December 8, 2011 at 06:20 PM Report Share Posted December 8, 2011 at 06:20 PM Please help clarify this issue.A three-year term of office that began on January 1, 2008 will end on December 31, 2011. It doesn't matter how long a particular person has served in that term, the term ends when it ends (and the person in that office is either re-elected or leaves that office). Josh Martin Posted December 9, 2011 at 02:43 AM Report Share Posted December 9, 2011 at 02:43 AM As a board member, I feel that all positions are up and we need to hold elections for every position. You are quite correct. If members are appointed to fill vacancies, they simply serve the remainder of the terms - they don't get their own three-year terms. If they want full terms they'll need to run for election like everyone else.
