Guest Dan Mortensen Posted December 12, 2011 at 04:24 PM Report Share Posted December 12, 2011 at 04:24 PM My organization has a Board of Trustees with an Executive Committee and various subcommittees. It is necessary for the full board to approve the minutes of the Executive Committee and the subcommittees before they are official? Or does the board only have to approve the motions that come from the committees that it then takes action on?
Guest Edgar Posted December 12, 2011 at 04:50 PM Report Share Posted December 12, 2011 at 04:50 PM It is necessary for the full board to approve the minutes of the Executive Committee and the subcommittees before they are official?Just like the board, the executive committee (which is more of a board than a committee) typically approves its own minutes. Committees don't usually prepare formal minutes (although they can and, if they do, would approve their own minutes).

As the divine Edgar has stated, committees usually don't prepare minutes.
