Guest friendofB Posted December 16, 2011 at 08:10 PM Report Share Posted December 16, 2011 at 08:10 PM hey there, can someone advise what the best way is to make a motion by conference call? in this case, we'll have about 15 people on the call. i've heard voting by way of objection (aka if someone objects, they speak up, otherwise the motion passes) is good, but i haven't seen any documentation on what is appropriate. any help would be great.thanks! Trina Posted December 16, 2011 at 10:27 PM Report Share Posted December 16, 2011 at 10:27 PM First of all, in order to conduct a meeting by conference call, your bylaws must specifically authorize this type of meeting. If the bylaws are silent, such a meeting is not valid under the rules in RONR.If conference-call meetings are authorized in the bylaws, 'it is advisable to adopt additional rules pertaining to their conduct' (RONR 11th ed. p. 97 ll. 31-32).RONR, being primarily a set of rules for conduct of in-person meetings, does not provide in-depth rules about how to fairly conduct meetings via conference call. This link may provide some useful information for your organization:AIPemeet5.PDF electronic meeting rules
