Guest Morris Posted May 4, 2012 at 05:18 PM Report Share Posted May 4, 2012 at 05:18 PM Today, our by-lays states amendments must be presented at least 30 days prior to the reviewing month (September). Is there a case where the by-laws can be amended after the adopted month (October); for instance, can I amend the by-laws today (May) and can it be adopted? Tim Wynn Posted May 4, 2012 at 05:59 PM Report Share Posted May 4, 2012 at 05:59 PM You have to follow your rules for amending the bylaws. What they have to say about when they can be amended is unclear.
Trina Posted May 4, 2012 at 06:01 PM Report Share Posted May 4, 2012 at 06:01 PM If the bylaws say that bylaws amendments can only be adopted in October, then that's what they say.May is 'at least 30 days prior' to September, so perhaps you can present your proposed amendment now. Whether you can get it reviewed any earlier than September or voted on earlier than October will depend on the specific language of the bylaws (interpretation of bylaws is not in the purview of this forum).
