Guest vaundale Posted May 22, 2012 at 11:12 PM Report Share Posted May 22, 2012 at 11:12 PM Our Bylaws are a little bit on the weak side and I was wondering if there was anything within RONR that can help us out.We recently had our election mtg. Prior to the mtg the nomination forms went out and the ballot names were added for vote at the mtg. A flyer had gone home to everyone and an email to all staff stating that anyone who attends the mtg would get a vote, we would not allow proxy votes. Some staff arrived just to vote and did not stay at the mtg. Are there votes allowed to count? Some members at the mtg did not state that they had a problem with this process until after the mtg had been adjourned and the vote had not gone their way. Also, do new board members that have been voted in, then have to be approved by the members present at the mtg? Are there votes allowed to count?Sure, assuming the polls were open and/or they had every reason to believe they were casting a valid vote. No rule requires that you attend a meeting from beginning to end, only that you are present when the vote is taken if you want to vote. Also, do new board members that have been voted in, then have to be approved by the members present at the mtg? This question is less clear. When you "voted in" the new board members you, in effect, "approved" them. No second vote is required.
