Does it mean that the person making the second approves to the motion or the second brings the main motion to discussion?
Guest Edgar Posted June 18, 2012 at 01:56 AM Report Share Posted June 18, 2012 at 01:56 AM What is the effect of a second to the main motion? Does it mean that the person making the second approves to the motion or the second brings the main motion to discussion? It simply lets the chair know that more than one member thinks the motion is worthy of consideration. The seconder may actually want the assembly to go on record as opposing the motion. Only the maker of the motion is presumed to support its adoption (and only the maker is prohibited from speaking against it in debate).
