A person is a Board member and is nominated for Presidente, is not elected, does he (she) can stay in there prebuse board position?

Recently in an oficial Assembly, a board member was nominated for Presidente Position, was not elected. The person as a Board Member had a 2 year term, and we do not have anything regarding this in our by laws; the question is: should the persona stay in as a board memeber and finish it's term, or is it considered a automatic resignation.

There is no rule in RONR that prevents a person from continuing to serve as a board member in such a situation.
