rangle Posted August 30, 2012 at 11:16 PM Report Share Posted August 30, 2012 at 11:16 PM Motion to pass the budget is before the assembly. After much discussion and aguing someone calls out to "put the question". motion is seconded and a vote is taken. The motion is defeated. As I understand once a motion is defeated , it can not be brought up again durring the same session. unless something has taken place to warrent another vote. Can you go back with a new motion to pass a budget? t

Can you go back with a new motion to pass a budget? tA member could move to Reconsider the motion, which would bring it back before the assembly exactly as it was before the vote was taken. At that point, the budget would be subject to further amendment and other subsidiary motions. The motion to Reconsider requires a majority vote and must be made by someone who voted on the prevailing side (in this case, someone who voted no).Alternatively, it may be possible to submit a new budget which is different enough from the original that it is considered to be a substantially different question and is therefore in order.
