Guest John Posted September 14, 2012 at 09:31 AM Report Share Posted September 14, 2012 at 09:31 AM What are the consequences of an ex-officio member of a committee failing to be notified of a meeting? The bylaws are silent, so Robert's Rules of Order dictate the answer. Thank you.

Trina Posted September 14, 2012 at 01:33 PM Report Share Posted September 14, 2012 at 01:33 PM What are the consequences of an ex-officio member of a committee failing to be notified of a meeting? The bylaws are silent, so Robert's Rules of Order dictate the answer. Thank you.An ex-officio member is a member with full rights of membership. Failing to provide required notice to some member(s) is a fundamental violation of the rules, and has the result that any business conducted at the meeting would be null and void (see RONR 11th ed. p. 251).You may also want to read this FAQ about ex-officio members, in case that status is a source of confusion.
