We are a current organization that raises funds and supports our school athletic programs. Recently the school district has set new guidelines for our organization to follow in order to continue supporting the school programs. The guidelines have a time line. In order to come into compliance with the schools new policy we need to make changes to our bylaws and how our organization is structured. Our current By laws state that a by law committe needs to be formed each year and make any revisions as needed. Revisions to be presented to the membership in April, May and voted in June. Can we make an addendum to our current bylaws, to meet the schools deadline and then work on the by laws changes in the near future.

Interpreting what your bylaws actually say is necessary to determine what you're up against here, and such interpretation is beyond the scope of this forum. I would say that just because your bylaws say that a committee needs to be formed at some time during the year and propose any necessary revisions (as it sees fit at that time), that may not preclude the membership from making additional changes (amendments) during the rest of the year. The article on Amendments will of course offer you some help, and you may find additional assistance on pages 588-591 of RONR 11th Ed.
