Guest Guest - Kristine Posted January 16, 2013 at 10:42 PM Report Share Posted January 16, 2013 at 10:42 PM Our social club has been in a 3yr discussion to obtain a building for storage purposes. At the Dec meeting a vote was taken, all members present voted, and the majority voted "no". Letters to all parties were drafted and to be sent out indicating our decision. At the Jan meeting, a member who has not been at the last 6 meetings (and wasn't there to vote in Dec) wanted to "revisit" the issue, open it up for discussion again and learn why the issue was voted down. This topic was tabled by the president until our next meeting in Feb. My questions - 1. Do we owe this member an answer or should he just read the minutes? 2. Can we "revisit" something that was just voted on last month? 3. What is the proper way to respond to his request? Thank you for your time
Guest Edgar Posted January 16, 2013 at 10:48 PM Report Share Posted January 16, 2013 at 10:48 PM A defeated motion can be made again ("renewed") at each subsequent (regular) meeting as if it had never been made before.Any member is free to fill in the absent member on what he missed (which will be a lot more than what should be contained in the minutes). And your president didn't "table" anything. See FAQs #12 and #13.
