Guest Sandy Posted January 29, 2013 at 12:36 PM Report Share Posted January 29, 2013 at 12:36 PM If they bylaws state that new member may not vote until they have been active for 6 months, are they elig to be nominated and elected to a Officer's position (President) where voting takes place in the board meetings - (does the elected person auto get voting privileges when voted into an officer's position even if they have not been active for 6 months? Chris Harrison Posted January 29, 2013 at 12:48 PM Report Share Posted January 29, 2013 at 12:48 PM Unless the bylaws say otherwise the fact that someone is elected to office doesn't automatically bestow upon them (or remove) any rights. As for whether a member who hasn't been given the right to vote (yet) can be elected to an office that is for you all to decide (though technically speaking a nonmember can be elected to office unless the bylaws say otherwise per RONR p. 447 ll. 16-19).
