Guest Sally B Posted January 27, 2018 at 06:08 PM Report Share Posted January 27, 2018 at 06:08 PM When a person wishes to be nominated from the floor for an elected position, and has sent in a letter of intent to run is it a requirement that the person be in attendance at the election meeting in order to be nominated or is the letter of intent enough to place their name on the ballot? Richard Brown Posted January 27, 2018 at 06:15 PM Report Share Posted January 27, 2018 at 06:15 PM A member does not need to be present in order to be nominated from the floor. In addition, RONR says nothing about a letter of intent, so you are on your own as far as interpreting your own rules regarding such a letter. However, it is a good idea to make sure that someone is willing to serve if elected before placing his name in nomination. It is not required by RONR, but it is advisable.
