Guest Lisa Posted August 26, 2018 at 07:46 PM Report Share Posted August 26, 2018 at 07:46 PM In our organization we have a board of directors that are slated by a nominating committee and voted on by the memberships we also have a management team ( like staff) that are slated by the nominating committee and than voted on by the members ship. We also have a placement committee that is slated by the nominating committee which places members on committees. We currently have a Chair position that is open. Members need to be apply to be a chair and the policy states they are selected by the Management Team based on the application. So so the question is should anyone who is in slated position be able to apply. ( board members , management team , placement and nominating committees are all slated and voted in by the membership )
Richard Brown Posted August 26, 2018 at 07:53 PM Report Share Posted August 26, 2018 at 07:53 PM (edited) Nothing in RONR prohibits holding more than one office simultaneously. Any such restriction would have to be in your own rules. However, unless you're rules specify otherwise, a member serving in more than one position still gets only one vote. You count heads, not hats. Edited to add: a member who serves on different boards or committees can have a vote on each board or committee that he serves on, but he can only have one vote on each such board or committee Edited August 26, 2018 at 07:55 PM by Richard Brown Added last paragraph
Richard Brown Posted August 26, 2018 at 08:04 PM Report Share Posted August 26, 2018 at 08:04 PM (edited) If the society should decide that these are guidelines rather than bylaws, I suggest that the society go about adopting a set of bylaws forthwith. please ignore this post. I am trying to delete it as it was intended for a different thread Edited August 26, 2018 at 08:11 PM by Richard Brown Post made in error
