Some here say it should be in the order in which they were nominated.

I prefer alphabetical by last name as the most transparent ordering method. I certainly wouldn't give incumbents any more of an advantage than they may already have.

You may choose to finesse this question completely and have an old fashion ballot - i.e., one with NO names listed at all - just the offices, plus a space to allow the voter to write in the name of choice.

As long as it's made clear to the voters that the names are listed in random order. Even so, it's natural to think that the first name is first for a reason. If it's alphabetical, the reason is apparent.
