Guest Kim Laird Posted September 12, 2010 at 02:13 AM Report Share Posted September 12, 2010 at 02:13 AM Our association has minutes from 2003 which have never been approved. Currently it is causing a hole in our online information to our members and even to the current board. If we have those minutes is it acceptable for the current board to approve the minutes so they can be published to the membership?

If they're old minutes of the general membership, the general membership will have to approve them.
hmtcastle Posted September 12, 2010 at 01:16 PM Report Share Posted September 12, 2010 at 01:16 PM If these are old board minutes, sure. If they're old minutes of the general membership, the general membership will have to approve them. . . . or authorize the board to do so. Which could only be done at a meeting of the general membership, at which time they might as well approve the minutes. The question's references to the "current" board might suggest the misunderstanding that the change in membership since 2003 might adversely affect the body's ability to approve the minutes when, it fact, it has no effect at all.
