Guest CONCERNED BOARD MEMBER

I am a member of a non profit little league org. Recently we held a meeting and the president of the conf, who is also president of one of the org was confused when he cast his vote...he realized it the next day..does that make the vote on this motion null & void or ..oh well..he should have been paying better attention? His vote would have changed the outcome, since he intended on voting the "other way"???

PLEASE HELP!! THANKS!!

In larger groups of more than about a dozen, the president maintains the appearance of impartiality by not making motions, not speaking in debate, and not voting unless his/her vote would affect the outcome.

It is WAY too late for him to change his vote. However, he (or someone if the group is more than about a dozen) could move to rescind the action. That motion requires a 2/3 vote without notice, majority vote with notice, or a majority of the entire membership.

If every vote was declared null & void because one (or more) of the voters was "confused", nothing would ever get done.

Not that that would necessarily be a bad thing.
