Serjeant-at-Arms

Sergeant-at-arms at a hunting club? Why, it's almost impossible to resist, but I'll try.

According to RONR, the Sergeant-at-arms "assists in preserving order as the chair may direct." This may include being in charge of the ushers, seeing the furnishings are in proper order for the meeting, and maybe (my own personal guess here) calling members back to the hall after a recess. For a legislative or public body, the duties can get a bit more involved, such as making sure everyone has enough ammo. (Oh well, my resistance waned.)

See RONR 10th Edition, page 446, lines 15-26.
