Kim Goldsworthy Posted October 18, 2010 at 03:38 AM Report Share Posted October 18, 2010 at 03:38 AM During a regular business meeting, a motion to disburse funds was approved. Do the minutes need to be approved at the next meeting before funds can be disbursed? No.For any motion, once a motion is adopted, it instantly becomes official, and is instantly enforceable. For example, if the adopted motion were to be, "That the treasurer cut a check for the Dance Committee to buy materials tomorrow," it would ludicrous to assume "that the minutes must be approved before the treasurer could cut the check", or "that the minutes must be approved before the Dance Committee makes its purchases by the explicit deadline" (namely, "tomorrow"). Do the minutes need to be approved at tne next meeting before funds can be disbursed? No, the minutes are the record of what was done; they're not the act itself.
