Guest Charles H. Rohrer Posted December 2, 2010 at 12:18 AM Report Share Posted December 2, 2010 at 12:18 AM In a school board meeting we will be receiving the nominations for president and vice-president. The nominating committee has a slate of two (one for each) to present to the board. The president will step aside since he is one of the nominees and the treasurer will take over the meeting. What is the process for this and the election to follow?

After the nominating committee makes its report, nominations from the floor are accepted. Then you vote.

hmtcastle Posted December 2, 2010 at 01:03 AM Report Share Posted December 2, 2010 at 01:03 AM What is the order of events? There's no motion to "accept names" (and nominations don't require a second). The sequence is nominate, debate, vote. You can vote for each office individually or all at the same time (like you do on Election Day). There are advantages and disadvantages to each method. Once a member makes a nomination, that person is nominated. After the nominations, you move to a vote.
