kaeles.mom Posted December 16, 2010 at 02:56 AM Report Share Posted December 16, 2010 at 02:56 AM ASAP: I am on the PTO board at my daughters school. I have had a family emergency that has caused me to have to be out of town for few months. What does Roberts Rules say in regards to this? If I am still receiving regular emails and phone calls from the president, can I be removed due to circumstance?

Josh Martin Posted December 16, 2010 at 04:09 AM Report Share Posted December 16, 2010 at 04:09 AM What does Roberts Rules say in regards to this? If I am still receiving regular emails and phone calls from the president, can I be removed due to circumstance?RONR largely does not concern itself with the reasons a board member may be removed, only with the process that must be followed. (See FAQ #20) So yes, you could be removed for "neglect of duty in office," (RONR, 10th ed., pg. 642, lines 29-32) but whether you should be removed is up to the organization to decide.
