Gary Novosielski Posted February 27, 2011 at 07:08 PM Report Share Posted February 27, 2011 at 07:08 PM What does a member need to do to challenge the Boards recommandation for a position on the Board?I'm afraid that's not enough detail to make the situation understood. Why would the board be recommending anything about a position on the board in the first place? Rather than challenging it, why not just ignore it? Guest Elle Posted February 27, 2011 at 08:51 PM Report Share Posted February 27, 2011 at 08:51 PM The member got votes for a board position as a write in, however the majority of the Board members do not want this member because he has mislead the Club with incorrect information costing the Club $500.00 and an issue with another member(not board member)when he gave the Board incorrect information. Therefore, the Board has voted(majority vote) to recommend another member, to the members, for this open board posoition. What could the write in member do to challenge the recommendation of the Board?

What could the write in member do to challenge the recommendation of the Board? That's simple. He needs to get his name voted for on a majority (more than half) of the ballots cast for that office. If he was a write-in candidate, then presumably the election is over, and he already got votes, and he either received enough, or did not. All the rest of the issues with who likes whom and who misled whom and who recommends what are irrelevant. The board does not get to have an opinion on its own composition, unless you have very odd bylaws indeed. Do they say something about this? If not, then all that counts is the vote. Tell people to ignore the bogus recommendation and vote for whomever they like, or if the election actually is over with, tell them better luck next year.
