Gary Novosielski Posted March 2, 2011 at 05:12 AM Report Share Posted March 2, 2011 at 05:12 AM What constitutes an Executive Committee? Officers and Immediate Past President??Executive Board? All elected board members??Are is it the opposite? The board of directors, as well as the executive committee, would have to be defined in your bylaws. Otherwise you don't have either one. Typically, the executive committee, if you have one, should be a subset of the board of directors composed of a few people who live in close enough proximity to get together on short notice to handle emergent situations. The practice of having the Immediate Past President as an actual office is not encouraged (or even mentioned) in RONR and is deprecated by a majority of parliamentarians.
