Gary Novosielski Posted April 7, 2011 at 04:53 AM Report Share Posted April 7, 2011 at 04:53 AM Is it permitted for an organization to suspend RONR if in its bylaws it lists it as the parliamentary authority? No.Certain rules that interfere with certain actions can be suspended (usually by a 2/3 vote) but there are some rules that are not suspendable, and it is never in order to suspend all the rules at once, without knowing the effect. Josh Martin Posted April 7, 2011 at 08:54 PM Report Share Posted April 7, 2011 at 08:54 PM Is it permitted for an organization to suspend RONR if in its bylaws it lists it as the parliamentary authority? What exactly is it your organization wants to do? There may be a proper motion to Suspend the Rules to accomplish the objective. It is not in order, however, to just make a motion "To suspend Robert's Rules of Order."
