hmtcastle Posted April 10, 2011 at 03:59 PM Report Share Posted April 10, 2011 at 03:59 PM 1. Is only a majority approval required to approve minutes?2. If someone has not read the minutes, should the approval be postponed until after they have a chance to read?Minutes are normally approved (after any corrections) by unanimous consent so no vote is required or appropriate (though a majority vote is sufficient).Minutes should be approved at the beginning of the next regular meeting. They must be read prior to approval upon the demand of any member but, otherwise, they needn't be read if the draft has been distributed beforehand (since it's then presumed that members had a chance to read it).So there should be no reason why a member who's present doesn't have access to the minutes prior to their approval. Absent members enjoy no such right.
Thomas Ralph Posted April 15, 2011 at 03:22 PM Report Share Posted April 15, 2011 at 03:22 PM Agreed. If an absent member finds the minutes wrong after they've been approved, the member could show up to another meeting and vote to amend something previously adopted. Guest JMP Posted April 16, 2011 at 03:43 AM Report Share Posted April 16, 2011 at 03:43 AM If the previously adopted minutes are then amended by the rules of amending something previously adopted...Is the correction then written in the the proper place in the minutes that are being amended with a notation of the date they were amended...Along with the current minutes stating they were amended?
