Guest President of SJMOMS Posted July 20, 2011 at 06:51 PM Report Share Posted July 20, 2011 at 06:51 PM Hi I have a member of my organization that is a chair(with voting rights) on 2 separate committees. Can she vote 2 times on the same topic? Or does she need to assign one of her votes to another member at each meeting?
Robert B Fish Posted July 20, 2011 at 06:57 PM Report Share Posted July 20, 2011 at 06:57 PM Neither. As she is just one person, she gets just one vote unless your bylaws say otherwise. The use of proxy voting as you describe, is not allowed unless your bylaws say otherwise.-Bob
Chris Harrison Posted July 20, 2011 at 06:58 PM Report Share Posted July 20, 2011 at 06:58 PM Hi I have a member of my organization that is a chair(with voting rights) on 2 separate committees. Can she vote 2 times on the same topic? Or does she need to assign one of her votes to another member at each meeting? He can vote on each committee he is a member of. If the same question comes before both committees then he can vote on it both times and if it comes before the body which appointed the committee(s) he can vote on it a third time (assuming he is a member of that body as well).
