Hello & good morning,

Our church bylaws state the following "Roberts Rule of Order Newly Revised shall serve as the guide for the conducting all business" And according to our church bylaws page 171 section S43 Selecting a church treasure: The qualifications: #1 qualification states the person must be a Loyal member of the church adhearing to its teachings. Now,we just about over 1 month ago just got in a new pastor, which when addressing the church stated he only goes by two books and what those books say, which are the Holy Bible & the Bylaw minutes of the General assembly. This past week the pastor asked someone who wasnt even a member and who hasnt been there in a long time, to go back in the church office to count church funds when members of the fianance commitee was not there & we currently have no treasure/clerk right now,but allowed this person when there were clearly other members in the church to go count church funds. This violates church bylaws & also violates his (pastor) word as no one is to go in the church office & see any church bisness or church books ect except the authorized church clerk & the pastor. Please tell me is this a violation (for lack of a better word) of stated bylaws & or even the pastors own word?

Thank you in advance for any help & advice you can give, Deanie

We aren't in a position here, being an RONR site, to either judge the Pastor's actions or attempt to interpret your bylaws.

We leave the judgment to others (or should that be Others?)

For future reference RONR deals (mainly) with the conduct of business in meetings, not possible financial hanky-panky in the church office.

LOL Yeah I kinda thought as much, I dont think anyone was judging anyone here, it was just simply an asked question, nothing more. Thats most of the problems in todays churches today anyway, pastors can do no wrong evedently, until he/she runs off with all the church funds, or one of the members spouses, then we all act shocked. Thanks anyway for your input.
